The global production and consumption of plastic bottles has
continuously increased over the past 50 years. Regardless of the overwhelming
negative information available to the public about the harm in using plastic
water bottles, plastic still makes up 40% of our trash. Only about a quarter of
all plastic water bottles actually gets properly recycled, with the remaining plastic
ending up in natural habitats, killing plants and animals.
This project hopes to take a new approach to marketing
information to the public by finding alternative ways to display and present
factual information.
I decided to engage the Fenway students in a drawing
activity due to the minimal skill that it requires. I provided students with a
fact about plastic water bottles and they drew a picture to represent what that
fact means to them. This presents the students with information about bottled
water that they otherwise may not have the access to. They utilize their
creative brain to represent the important information.
My objective is to further educate and increase awareness
about the harmful use of plastic water bottles. I aim to provide people with
alternative methods for recycling plastic bottles.
